Bible study on Romans – Chapter 6

Dear brothers and sisters,

In this bible study on the 6th chapter on the book of Romans we will go through the following parts:

  • Dead to sin, alive in Christ
  • Slaves to righteousness

Dead to sin, alive in Christ

When you are baptized, than you have died to sin. That God will forgive us for our sins, does not mean that we have a “wild card” to sin, whenever we want. If we do sin, than it is an insult to God if we decide to sin again. Know that your baptism is very important and should never be taken lightly. From the moment you were baptized, you have been set free from sin, so do your best to life without sin!

I love God very much and I thank Him, that He freed us from sin and that sin is no longer our master!

Slaves to righteousness

Paul continues onthe subject of sin. He asks us, if we can continue to sin, because we are no longer under the law, but under grace? He is very clear on this subject: NO!

What happens when you sin? Then you choose to let sin be your master again. And the master called sin will lead to one thing: dead!

But now Paul lets us know that we should not be in despair, because through God we became slaves to righteousness! As long as you are a slave to sin, then the only benefit will be death! But from the moment that you become a slave to righteousness, then you will be reaping the benefit which lead to holiness and the result of that will be eternal life!

Bible study on Romans – Chapter 5

Dear brothers and sisters,

In this bible study on the 5th chapter on the book of Romans we will go through the following parts:

  • Peace and hope
  • Death through Adam, life through Christ

Peace and hope

This chapter begins with one of the most important lessons of the Bible: it is through faith that we are justified. And therefore we are also not justified by anything else. And it is only through Jesus Christ that we have peace. So, if you seek peace in your life, than know it is only to be received by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior.

Paul even tells us that we should glorify in our suffering, as it builds/brings perserverance, character, and character will bring hope. And don’t think you will be ashamed by having hope, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit!

Furhtermore, know that God shows us so much love for us, because although we were sinners Jesus Christ died for us. Never take this mildly, because dying (in an earthly body), and the way that He had do die, must have been so horrible to comprehend. So never take Jesus Christs dying for our sins lightly!

Death through Adam, life through Christ

Death entered into the world by one man (Adam), and death through sin, and in that way death came to all people, because all sinned! This means that no matter who you are, you have also sinned! So everyone needs Jesus Christ and faith to come before God!

But luckily we have not despair, because although sin and death came to us through one man, it was by one man, Jesus Christ, that it was by God’s grace came over all of us! And this gift is much bigger than sin! So have full faith in Jesus Christ!

Bible study on Romans – Chapter 1

Romans

Bible study on Romans – Chapter 1

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be studying the first chapter of the book of Romans (NIV).

This chapter consists out of the following parts:

  • Introduction
  • Paul’s longing to visit Rome
  • God’s wrath against sinful humanity

Introduction

In the NIV the first part of this chapter is actually named ‘introduction’, but it does serve that purpose.Pa

Romans is written by the apostle Paul, of whom is set that God set him apart for the Gospel of God. See how God has a purpose and plan for all of us. I pray that through the Holy Spirit God will show us what our purpose in His ministry is.

Paul starts this chapter by telling us about Jesus Christ and how is truly the Son of God. And that is through Him alone that we receive grace. Paul also receive the apostleship to call to all gentiles (non Jews) to come to the obedience that comes from faith for His name’s sake. Paul speaks to you directly that YOU are also amongst those gentiles. It is very amazing that God makes it very clear that He is there for all of us, not just a select few. So, never think (regardless of how your life has been so far and whatever you have done (wrong)). God is there also for you, always!

To the people in Rome he tells all that are loved by God: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Know that you are also meant as a “person from Rome”.

Paul’s longing to visit Rome

Paul starts by giving compliments to the people of Rome, by telling them that their faith is being reported over the whole world. This also tells us how important it is to continiously encourage one another. Even if we don’t feel like it, pray to God that He removes any negative thought (because the devil is eager to put those negative in your mind to stop you from being a blessing), so that we take every opportunity to encourage each other. This again shows that God wants us to be together in faith. There is no such thing that you can have a relationship alone with God and not share it with others.

Paul also shows us that he has a continious relationship with God and prays without ceasing. We also need to be in relationship with God all the time and pray to Him. He again confirms us that his ministry is to help us to mutually encourage each other in faith. If you see, that someone is going through a spiritual “storm”, than it is up to you to encourage that person.

God put it in Paul’s heart to come to Rome and even sooner than he did. We read in Acts how God took a unconventional way to make sure that this time He went. Also he tells them that his purpose of coming was to share the Gospel. We also, are here to share the Gospel. And pray that, just like Paul, you are not ashamed of the gospel, because of the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. The devil will do his best to make you ashamed to keep your mouth shut, so we must shame him by just do that: spread the Gospel!

Why? Because in the Gospel the rightheousness of God is revealed  – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “the righteous will live by faith”.

God’s wrath against sinful humanity

God hates sin! Pure and simple! Paul tells us that the wrath of God is being revealed against all godlesness and wickedness of people, who supress the truth by their wickedness.

God has made His invisible qualities very visible: His eternal power  and divine nature.

Here God also tells us that we as people that we knew/know God, but neither glorified nor gave thanks to Him. And that our thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. I pray to God that our thinking becomes renewed and our hearts enlightned.

Paul tells us about all impurities that we have been given over to in this world. But that we life in this world and that the devil will wants us to sin, there is no excuse, because we have a free will. So, also a free will to not sin and be with God and follow Him!

God hates all sin and will not accept it, so stop it. I pray that the Holy Spirit guides and protects us and helps us not to fall in sin!

God bless you all!

Daily word for 20 April 2016 – 2 Corinthians 13:2

Daily encouraging word

Daily word for 20 April 2016 – 2 Corinthians 13:2

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from 2 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV):

2 I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others,

We should never think that we can sin and get away with it. You need to repent your sins and grow closer to God. God is a loving God, but He also gave us a very clear warning about sin. In this world it is often made as if it is no problem to sin, while God is very clear that He does not allow it. Also because it is destructive for your own life.

God bless

Daily word for 4 February 2016 – Isaiah 53:11

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Isaiah 53:11 (NIV):

11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied ; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

The whole Bible revolves around Jesus. God did not just decide to sent His son, but He already had it planned before the earth was created. Isaiah talks about Jesus and what He is coming for. Jesus came to suffer for our sins, so we could be forgiven and enter into Heaven through Him. Jesus justified us, by dying at the cross.

Not only can we rely on this very big offer that Jesus made, but we can also rest on the fact that God has already made a plan for our life before we were born. The more we listen to Him through the Holy Spirit, the more we can let Jesus make it possible to unfold its plan for our life. And know that it will be full of blessings!

God bless you!

Alex’ view – Racism is a sin

Hello my brothers and sisters,

I ask God for blessing us today as and will continue do this as He always does! Today I got it on my heart to touch on the subject on racism. As I am a Christian I will follow Gods guidance in everything so also this subject.

This subject is one that we are faced with more and more. In the general way, because how much closer we come to the end time, the more people show intolerance towards one another. And that tolerance more often or not is associated with racism. But we are also faced with this subject because my wife and I are an interracial couple (I am a Dutch guy and she is a beautiful Ghanaian woman). Not everyone agrees with our choice and sometimes you see the surprised looks and sometimes also angry looks (or even angry comments). But also I see how for example the African and Afro-American woman are being faced with racism just because of the fact that they are dark and female.

I pray to God that people will stop being racist and intolerant towards each other. Even when we don’t agree with the choice of someone else (e.g. homosexuality is a sin, but that does not justify us to be hateful and racist towards them. Homosexuality is not more a sin then other sins (with the exception of insulting the Holy Spirit). God will judge us on our sin (all our sins!) so we don’t need to do that. But to come back on the subject. Racism is wrong and God makes it very clear in the Bible that He does not allow it and considers it a sin!

In the Bible I found some verses that touch this subject.

Romans 10:12 (NIV)

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

In This verse God lets us know that He sees no difference between people. He makes it known very clearly that he is the Lord of all of us, so he doesn’t exclude nobody! He only wants us to call on Him so he can richly bless us!

1 John 2:9 (NIV)

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.

As Christians God will not accept us to be racist or judgmental to others based on race (or even sexual preference) and makes it know that although we might think we are in the light, as long as we hate our brother then we will still be in the darkness. So racism is a sin and it is a sin that can cost you entering heaven! Stop hating others just because they have another skin color!

John 13:34 (NIV)

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

This is a very beautiful verse as it shows that we need to love others as we are loved by God! He even asks us to love other the same way. Again, God makes no distinction of any kind. So we cannot choose who we will love as ourselve!

And I want to close this “Alex’ view” with the following verse

Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

God made us all in His own image! This verse is in the beginning of the Bible and God makes very clear that everybody is created to His image. If we sin by being racist then we are actually attacking God and calling His word to be incorrect. And God never makes mistake!

To be clear homosexuality is a sin according to the Bible so God did not create people as gays. That is a lie of the devil! The devil wants us to believe that people are born that way, but God is not gay and cannot have created homosexuals, because that is not a creation in His image! But when we are begin racist to someone that is gay, then we are also sinning. Let God deal with everybody and their own sins!

There are lots more verses about this subject and I hope that you will all go deeper into this subject with God!

God bless you all!!

Alex’ view – What is wrong with Noah?

WhatsWrongNoah (1)

Alex’ view – What is wrong with Noah?

Hi brothers and sisters,

Thanks for reading this first ‘editorial’ of mine. When I first heard of a new movie about Noah I was really thrilled. So recently I got the chance to watch it with my wife and I was really shocked what I was watching. Everything that you see and hear you should always be able to test it with the truth in the Bible. And before watching this movie it is very important that you read the real story in the Bible first as is it clear that the devil really tries to mislead people to take the truth of Bible and twist and lie around it! So I pray that you (not only with this movie) always ask God to let the Holy Spirit guide you and let you see the truth.

When watching this movie so many lies came:

  • Noah was helped by “watchers” that were in fact fallen angels. Noah was chosen by God to be saved from the flood, because he was still righteous in a time that the world was very sinful! To put Noah to work with fallen angels is such a lie, because that means that Noah wouldn’t be righteous. But even more important: Noah was the only reason to not fully stop mankind from surviving and that would make God make a human error. And God does not make mistakes!
  • At the end of the movie the watchers get into heaven, because of their good deeds. Fallen angels are cast to hell, so their judgement has already been given by God. After we receive the judgement over our lifes, that will not be overturned as we see with earthly judges. God is a supreme judge and His “ruling” is made once and without error.
  • In the Bible it is very clear that Noah, his wife and his three children with their wives were on the Ark. And what do we see in the movie? Only the oldest son goes on board of the Ark with his wife. What happened to the wives of the other 2? And the oldest gets to girls, implying that somehow the other brothers would eventually make families with these to girls?
  • The grandfather of Noah is Methusalem and in the movie he is made a sort of sorcerer that helps the wife of the oldest son to not be barren anymore. First of all only God can make a wife that is barren to get pregnant. Making him a sort of sorcerer is again an attempt to bring the devil into play as a sort of saviour which he is not!
  • Also Methusalem dies in the flood. So, you would ask, does it matter? Yes it doest matter, because his death is very significant. Almost 1.000 years before the flood mankind was warned for this judgement of God, so we as mankind had almost 1.000 years to repent and change! So if people call God a cruel God because of the flood, then they are mistaken and false! The reason that Methusalem is so significant, because his name in Hebrew means: “if I die it starts”. God made sure that he received this name, because on the day Methusalem died, the flood would start. So the devil lied in the movie by letting him die in the flood and not before it!
  • The father of Noah, Lamech, was killed, while in the Bible it cleary states that he died at an old age. If he was murdered the Bible would have mentioned it!
  • In the Bible Tubal-Kain is indeed mentioned as a descendent of Kain, but in no way he is part of the flood story, but all of a sudden he is part of the movie. Not only is he portrayed as a sort of protector of mankind with his speech before his people, but also he ends up on the Ark to kill Noah. What? God was very clear in the Bible who was on that Ark. Putting someone on the Ark from a bloodline (Kain) that was not blessed by God is giving honor to the devil and not to God. The bloodline of Kain was an important reason that the flood came, because mankind was very wicked in that time.
  • The movie makes it seem that the time that Noah was ordered by God to build the Ark and the time the flood came was within a few years (the youngest son in the movie was only about 8 years), while in the Bible it clearly states that it was 150 years!
  • Also Noah made all effort to convert people and get them on the Ark, but the people made fun of him and rejected Gods mercy! In the movie however it is portrayed as if Noah made sure that other people got no chance to get on the ark. False and a lie of the devil, they got all the chances!
  • In the movie the snake gets a very big share of the attention, both in a the part where the animals board the Ark. Why a special part where only snakes (and lots of them) board the Ark other then to give attention and praise to the devil? The maker of this movie knows the significance of the snake in the Bible and I believe he did it to show alliance to the one he serves and that is not God!
  • Also when a blessing is passed the descendants of Adam (also Noah) use the skin of the first snake, satan, around their arm. This is such a big lie, because this would imply that they are not blessed by God, but by satan. This is such a hideous lie
  • At the end of the movie the 2 baby girls of the oldest son of Noah are blessed by Noah and after it a rainbow appears. When reading the Bible you will soon see that this is also a huge lie although when watching the movie you would maybe not make much of it. But in the Bible it says that Noah came from the Ark and his first action was to build an altar and to give a sacrifice to God after which God made a covenant with Noah that He would never judge mankind by a flood and as a sign he made the rainbow appear as a sign of that promise.
  • Also in this movie no praise is given to God and  Noah is portrayed as a very wicked person. Both are very wrong and lies.

I ask you not to watch this movie (by preference), because it is made to lie to us and give people the wrong information to try and get them away from God. But God will never fail! Please always read Gods word to test everything you see and hear in life. If it is not in line with the Bible then its wrong!

God bless you all!
