Daily devotional for 10 August 2017 – Romans 10:9-11

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Romans 10:9-11 (NIV):

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Amen! These verses are very powerful and words to life by! God tells us how important both our heart and mouth are in professing our faith in Him. The one does not go without the other. It is not enough to just say that Jesus is Lord. No, you fully have to believe in your heart. If you really do it like this than God will fullfill His promise over your life: that your life is saved! Also make sure that you are very careful what and how you speak, because although you can use your mouth for good, you can also use it for evil. Make sure that you think before you speak. It is so easy to speak out of anger and make things worse so easily. While it is the devil that wants you to react on bad things. But if you let the Holy Spirit control your speach, than you will see how it will make things better and stop worse things from happening. Also, know that other people know that you are a Christian and what kind of example are you being for your faith and for God if you use your mouth to do evil? Let your life be a good example for others!
