Daily word for 28 March 2016 – Matthew 28:5-6

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Matthew 28:5-6 (NIV):

5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Through the woman that came to the (empty) tomb where Jesus body (after His crucifixion) was put to be a witness to the fact that He was no longer death and has risen. God makes sure that we always have people to be witness of His miracles so we can hear of them and strengthen our faith by them.

Amen!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 28 of the Gospel of Matthew.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • The resurrection
  • The guard’s report
  • The Great Commission

The resurrection

After the Sabbat, the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the grave of Jesus. But before they came there an angel appeared at the grave. God made sure that it was without question that it was an angel and not just a man to remove the stone from the grave from Jesus. Not only by letting an earthquake take place, but also let the angel appear as lighting and being fully dressed as white as snow. God will always make sure that when He does something in our life, that it will be very clear that it was Him that did it. The angel removed the stone and sat on it. The guards (that did not believe in Jesus to be the Son of God) could not handle the presence of the angels and were like dead man. When God works, you can rest assured that His greatness will be overwhelming. Even in the life of my family, we have seen so many times how powerful God is and how He saved us and protected us. God is really amazing.

The angel waited for the two Mary’s and told them to also check that Jesus was indeed risen and not in the tomb anymore. God always makes sure that there will be witnesses to His deeds. This is to make sure that we all can hear of His works in our lifes! This is also to make sure that His truth is known, but also to strengthen our faith! He sent them on thei way to tell the disciples of this great news, and on the way they also met Jesus Himself. During this encounter Jesus gave them a chance to establish that He was indeed risen, But I also believe that He granted them this special occassion to be the first to meet the Risen Jesus, to thank them for their faith!

The guard’s report

Here we read how the priest did not see their sin, or even repented their sin.  No, they even hardened their heart. Even the ressurection of Jesus (by report of the guards, that had nothing to gain to report on the ressurection of Jesus!) was not enough for them to acknowledge Jesus to be Son of God. Here we see how a heardened heart can really destroy us and our relationship with God. I pray that our hearts will never be so heartened that we drift away from God and His mercy! The priest bribed the guards to lie and this lie is still being told and believed by a lot of people in this world. This also show how bad sinning is and how it can influence and destroy generation after generation.

The Great Commission

All eleven disciples went to Galilee and go to the mountain where Jesus told them to meet Him. On this place Jesus appeared before them and let them know all authority on heaven and earth has been given to Him and since His death and resurrection He has become the way to God, His father! And then He told them that from now on they were to bring His word to all nations and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. When Jesus left earth He did not leave us alone, but made sure that His work would continue. Amen!

I thank God for guiding us through the Gospel of Matthew. From the next blog I will start a Bible study about the Gospel of John. I ask God to also guide us through that BIble study. Amen!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 27 of the Gospel of Matthew.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Judas hangs himself
  • Jesus before Pilate
  • The solders mock Jesus
  • The cruxifiction
  • The death of Jesus
  • The burial of Jesus
  • The guard at the tomb

Judas hangs himself

When the morning came Jesus was brought to Pilate. At that same moment Judas realized that he had sinned and that Jeus was condemmed. And this is the case with all sins in our lifes at some point. There will come a time that you will be aware of your sin, but then you have already committed the sin. And in the case of Judas we see something very important with sin. The expected benefit of that sin, will never come. Don’t think that by sinning you will get blessings, because it is a lie. This alone should be enough reasons to withhold yourself from any sin. Because he felt so guilty he brought the silver coins back to the priests. But her we see how the devil works and what initially seemed a good thing, blows up in your face, because the devil already made you sin. In the case of Judas the priest told him that they would not take his money and that his sin was on him. Before his betrayal the priest were more than willing to work with him, but after he did what they wanted they abandoned him. Because he couldn’t deal with his own sin and guilt he went to a field and committed suicide. This shows how devestating sin can and will be to our lives.

Because they knew these silver coins to be blood money they did not take it back, but decided to purchase the land were Judad hanged himself. This became a place to bury foreigners. By this a prophecy of Jeremiah became a fact.

Jesus before Pilate

When Jesus stood before Pilate, he was interogated by Pilate. He soon noticed that it was not because of a real crime that Jesus was put before him, but because out of spite against Jesus. Even though Pilate was not a Jew or Christian, God gave him more than enough knowledge to know that it would be wrong to sentence an innocent man. But he showed us to be a very weak man, because he could not decide on himself to free him, because he was more afraid of the anger of the people. Even after his wife warned him that she saw in a dream that Jesus should not be killed, he still choose the world. Although he tried to get Jesus free, by putting the choice with the people to release Him or Jesus Barabas (a real criminal). But because the priest were cheering the crowd up to condemn Jesus, the whole crowd demanded Jesus Barabas to be released (and therefore Jesus to be killed). We should never think if we stay passive that God will honor this. No, I firmly believe that God hates passive Christians and views it as a sin! PIlate had all the chance to choose Jesus and trust on HIm, but he didn’t. We can shout that we have put the responsibility on others, but when we come before God, He will still judge us for our sins! So don’t ever think that you can cheat God and put your sins on other people. We can only repent our sins to God, to be forgiven. After this we also see how the Jews curse themselves to accept that the blood of Jesus is on them and their descendants. And I believe that all the suffering of the Jews since then has to do with this. Please, never state that you will accept the blood of innonence and/or sin on your own self and you descendents, because you will place a curse on yourself!

The soldiers mock Jesus

I think this is also one of the most horrible parts of the Bible. Instead of seeing the innonce of Jesus, they mocked Him and insulted Him and dressed Him up as a King, but in a horrible way. We should, just like Jesus, also accept the fact that when we choose God, then we will also be open to receive mockery and pain from the world. I pray that all of us will be strong like Jesus and not give in to this mockery and hurt, but stay firm in our faith. God will always bless marhtyrs! Always rest on the blessings that God will give in Heaven. Don’t see you worldly life as the most important part of your life, because it is not!

The cruxifiction

After this mockery they sent Jesus to Golgotha (and to some it is believed that Golgotha is the exact same place where Abraham was to give his son Isaac as an offer. And som many years later Jesus was actually offered to die for our sins. I do believe this to be true as God has guided the whole Bible and to show that nothing happens without His guidance and that He has showed that already before the earth was created by Him, He already knew that He was to let His son Jesus die for our sins. God is so amazing how He has already orchestrated everyhting and nothing is a coincidence.

When Jesus was walking towards Golgotha with His cross on His back (to really make Him suffer to the end). See how the world can make us suffer just because we serve God. The punishment (and especially because Jesus was innocent) was in no way in line with His crime (as mentioned in His case there was no crime). But again God brought an unknown person (Simon) to help Him to make His suffering less. How bad our circumstances might look like, God will always sent people on your way to decrease your suffering. Even in your suffering, God is always there for you.

When God was hanging on the cross, the mockery continued. They did not allow Him any relieve, but in this case one criminal hanging besides Him did acknowledge Him as the Son of God and knew He was innoncent. This great amount of faith gave the criminal an amazing blessing and got him saved. This contrast of a criminal seeing Him rightfully being the Son of God and being saved by his faith and the priest, soldiers and others that should have known God better, which were to be judged after their worldy lives ended.

The death of Jesus

When it was time for Jesus to die, God made sure that everyone present would know the mistake they had made and that they had just killed the Son of God. At the moment He died it became very dark. This is also the case that if Jesus dies in your life, it will become dark. God is light, so never think that you can life withouth God in your life. Also, at the moment of His passing, the dead came to life, the curtain on the temple was torn. By doing this God made sure that no one could acknolwegde anything else then that that Jesus was in fact the Son of God. And in our lifes, God will always make sure that He makes sure that we aware of our sins. Not because He wants to torment us, but to show us the consequence of our sins and also as a possibility to repent our sins.

The burial of Jesus

Also after His death in this world, God made sure that He was not forgotten, by sending a rich disciple (Joseph of Arimithea) to get Jesus body from Pilate to ensure that Jesus got a proper burial. After this a big stone was placed before the grave, because apparantly the priests were not that sure that He was the Son of God. Why place a big stone before a death man? Even if they were only afraid that the disciples would steal His body, then this was to much to secure that Jesus body could not leave that grave.

The guard at the tomb

Because the priests did not forget that Jesus told them that after three days He would rise again, they were afraid that it could indeed happen. Sinners can try what they want, but even a guard and a big rock cannot stop God to raise His Son Jesus from the grave. We should never think that we can win from God, as He is far more powerful and all His plans will come to pass!

God bless you all!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 26 of the Gospel of Matthew.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • The plot against Jesus
  • Jesus anointed at Bethany
  • Judas agrees to betray Jesus
  • The Lord’s supper
  • Jesus predicts Peter’s denial
  • Gethsemane
  • Jesus arrested
  • Before the Sanhedrin
  • Peter disowns Jesus

The plot against Jesus

God is all-knowing and we should never think that anything we do is not known by Him. Jesus already told His disciples 2 days before his arrest, that He would be arrested and crucified. As men we might think that we can suprise God and Jesus, but the fact is we cannot. The chief priest and elders thought that by discussing in secret their plan to capture Jesus, was unknown by Jesus (and God). Also, and maybe even worse, they thought they were doing it for God, while they were fighting against Him. Never think that when you do an evil act that it will ever be to honor God!  I love it that Jesus already informed the disciples before this plan was known, to show how mighty God is and that God will always use any situation to His advantage to be a blessing to us. And how horrible the crucification of Jesus was, it was a major blessing to us: as now we can come before God through His son God and by His mercy we have a chance to enter heaven, because our own works will never be sufficient to gain entrance to Heaven!

Jesus anointed at Bethany

When He came to the town of Bethany, He was invited to the house of Simon the Leper. During His stay there, a woman entered and had a very expensive parfum with her and used it to anoint Jesus. I love how God uses the unknown and the little of us to do great deads. Her role should encourage us to rest on the fact that no one is to little in the eyes of God. God wanted His son, Jesus, to be anointed before His arrest and crucifiction. God wants us to be anointed as it stands for blessing, protection and empowerment. And before a great work for our God, we need to be anointed to know that God is guiding us. By this action of the unknown woman God showed His own Son that all that would come, that He would not go through it alone!

I was really suprised by the negative reaction of the disciples. They answered in a very worldly way by worrying about spilling an expensive parfume. And fully missing the significance of this anointing. As Christians we should never think that we have all the knowledge and full understanding of everything. That is why we need the Holy Spirit to guide us. Jesus explained the significance and let them know that Jesus would not always be with them and that when we talk about the gospel, that she will always be remembered for this. What an amazing blessing for this woman!

Judas agrees to betray Jesus

This is one of the most horrific moments in the Bible. For whatever reason Judas decided to betray Jesus and went to the chief priest and discuss what he would gain if he would betray Jesus. There is nothing in the world that could every justify to betray God, so never do anything that is betrayal to Him!

The Lord’s supper

On the first day of the Feast of unleavened bread (passover) the Disciples asked Him how they should prepare for the Feast and He told them to go into town and come in contact with a certain man and tell Him that I will celebrate this Feast at His house. And just as Jesus told them, it came to pass.

During the supper God informed them that one of the disciples would betray Him. This again shows that we can do nothing without God knowing. God even pointed out to Judas that he was the one betraying Him. And by this God gave him a chance to repent and to abort his plan. But his heart was so dark by this moment that He did not take the chance to repent His sin. God will always give us a chance to repent our sins and come back to Him, but it is up to us to take up His mercy!

In this supper He introduced to us the Lord’s supper which we still celebrate in our churches nowadays. Jesus explained the significance of the bread and wine. The bread signifies His body. And the wine signifies the blood of His covenant, which is poured out for many to the forgiveness of sins. When Jesus left earth, He did not leave us, but He remained close to us and was more than willing to forgive our sins and show us mercy. As mentioned before, it is up to us to take this mercy.

Jesus predicts Peter’s denial

We should never take it lightly to follow Jesus, as there will come times in our lifes when our faith will be tested to the extreme. Jesus told the disciples that they would not be strong that night and would leave Him. Especially Peter was so convinced that He would never betray Jesus. But Jesus made it very clear that also he, Peter, would betray Him before that night was ended, not one time, but three times. Peter thought that He was even prepared to die for Him, but as we know that night He wasn’t. We should be willing to die for God ifit comes to that point, but be aware that making that offer is not as easy as it would seem. This should also give us massive respect to Jesus to die for our sins!

Gethsemane

Before His arrest was to come, He took his disciples to Gethsamene were He wanted to spent time with His father, because He was experiencing the most difficult time of His life on earth. He knew that his crucifiction was necessary, but to actually be just in front of the moment of His death, was not easy for even Jesus. He asked three of His disciples to stay close and pray for Him. But 2 times He checked on them and both times they were asleep. We should never underestimate howmuch effort it takes to lead a life of prayer. It is very important to have prayer in our lifes, but the devil will do everything to disturb this part of our lifes, as he also knows the power that comes from prayer. Ask God to lead you through the Holy Spirit to have a life of prayer. You will see how this will be major blessing to your life!

Jesus arrested

After His time of prayer they headed back and at that moment Judas showed up with two legions. And to show these guards who Jesus was, He gave Jesus a kiss. Not as a sign of love for Jesus, but to sell Him out. At this moment they started arresting Jesus, when one of Jesus’ companions grabbed a sword and cut of the ear of one of these guards. Jesus immediately stopped them pursuing this aggresive way of protecting Him, telling them that this needs to happen and that God would take these guards away, if it was not His will. At this moment the guards and Judas got a chance to repent their sins and stop their actions, when Jesus restored the ear on the guard. If He was not the son of God, how would he be able to restorte this ear?

Jesus was now arrested and taken away.

Before the Sanhedrin

Before the Sanhedrin Jesus was put on trial and they tried to find anything on Him, that would enable them to justify His killing, but they could not find anything. Jesus, has always been without sin, therefore no lie will ever stick over His life. Then they asked HIm if He was the Son of God, and he replied that He was what they said He was. And this was reason enough for them to charge Him on the count of blasphemy. They were not even open to the fact that He was indeed the Son of God. They had seen more than enough of His amazing ministry, but still they would not even be open to the fact that He is the Son of God. I believe this was also because He criticized them and their actions. I think alot of them found their position far more important than following God. As soon as we do a work for God and see the position more important then following God, then we have already betrayed and left God!

Peter disowns Jesus.

Peter did show some courage by following Him to the Sanhedrin, but unfortunately He did not remain brave on three moments were people identified Him as a disciple of God. And after the third time of disowning Jesus, the rooster crowed and Peter was shocked that He indeed disowned Jesus as He prophesied to Him! We should never underestimate anything God says to us, because He know us better then we do know ourselves!

God bless you all!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 24 of the Gospel of Matthew.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Signs of the end of the age
  • The day and hour unknown

Signs of the end of age
In this chapter Jesus begins talking about the end of times with His disciples. When it will be and how they will know the signs. Jesus immediately beings with warning them (and thus also us) that before Jesus comes back (in the end of times) that a lot of deceivers will come and claim to be the messias. But when Jesus will come again then we will know for sure, so everyone that does not speak or professies in accordance with Gods word, should not be followed or believed. Also everyone that claims to be Jesus, but there is no sign of His coming, then don’t believe that person.

Also Jesus warns that a lot of wars and conflicts will come (and even rumors of them), but this also should not make us afraid, because these things need to happen, before the end of time.

Something that we need to know is that all these things are not the end time, they merely birth pains of it. Also we must prepare ourselves, because the more closer we come to the end of time, the more heave the persecuation of us Christians will become, even brother will betray brothers. So make sure that you stand very strong in your faith and ask God for His guidance for this!

Jesus also speaks of the last days and how heavy it will be, and He also makes clear that under Gods grace those days are made short, or no one would survive. This should always be a reason to never trust on ourself, but in everything we need to trust on God!

This part of the chapter ends with the clear signs when Jesus will come. Read them very careful, because these signs are very clear and anybody who claims to be Jesus, but where these signs have not been taken place is a liar and a fake!

The day and hour unknown

IT is very important to know that no one, not even the angels, knows the day and hour that Jesus will returns. Therefore be ready for His coming everyday. Do not think that you can keep on doing somethings of which you know that God does not approve and think that you have enough time to change and repent. Because we do not even know how long our lifes will be.

Furthermore, we should be aware that the way the world is becoming worse and worse is a clear sign that we are moving more and more to “as in the days of Noah”. We are currently living in a very wicked world where the devils really is eager to fight all that is from Christ. But know and rest on the fact that God will win and already has won!

Bible study

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 23 of the Gospel of Matthew.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Seven woes

Seven woes

Here, Jesus tells us that we are to listen to our pastors and teachers. Even when they do not follow their own teaching, we still have to follow their teaching (if they are based on the Bible). God gave us His teaching through the Bible and no matter how a pastor or bible study teachers acts him-/herself, it is never a justification to follow their bad example. We always have to follow the word of God. Also in our own lifes with our children this means that we need to teach them the word of God and to teach them what is wrong (even if we are doing that wrong thing). God does not like it when we don’t teach our children the right way, because we are sinning on that particular point.

Furthermore God loves us to be humble, not so that He can feel superior over us. No, because not only He deserves us to be humble before Him, but also because when we are not humble we start acting as we are a god ourselves. All that we accomplish is due to God and not our own! And God will bless a humble heart.

Also do not think that you can determine who and who not can enter heaven. We do not know all their lifes, but also the only one that judges for us to go into heaven is God. In Heaven you will be surprised of the persons that you will find their and that you won’t find their. Don’t ever think that you can be so arrogant to determine that you can keep people out of heaven based upon your judgement.

Also when we bring other people to faith, then we have to make sure that we give a good example, because if a new convert in faith becomes more wicked then he or she was before she became a Christian based upon how you are acting, then God will judge you for it. Be a role model for new Christians!

God doesn’t want us to make an oath, but if you do, then He wants you to keep it. God takes you giving an oath very serious. So make sure that you know what you are doing, before you make such an oath.

As Christians we need to show mercy, justice and faithfullness. As Christians we need to be different then the world and always be prepared to show mercy to someone that did you wrong, always be fair in your judgement and make sure that your judgment is fair! Also be faithfull to God and to the ones you love.

In the closing of this chapter Jesus tells us that He won’t leave for good, but that He is coming back!

Daily encouraging word

Daily word for 30 March 2015

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Romans 5:14-15, which says:

14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam,1 who was a pattern of the one to come.2 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man,3 how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ,4 overflow to the many!

When Jesus died at the cross for the sins of all humans, it also ended the reign of death on earth. Sin may have come into the world by one man, but it was an even greater man (Jesus) that defeated it and brought us grace!

Daily word 29 March 2015 – Isaiah 46:9-10

Daily encouraging word

Daily word for 29 March 2015

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Isaiah 46:9-10, which says:

9 Remember the former things,1 those of long ago;2 I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.3 10 I make known the end from the beginning,4 from ancient times,5 what is still to come.6 I say: My purpose will stand,7 and I will do all that I please.

Know that God is unique and that no is the same or can even measure up to Him. Also when you want to be encouraged in your faith about God, just look back in the Bible, but also in your own life all that God has done. God has a plan for your life and He will carry it out, but you also have to allow Him to work in and through you.

Daily word 28 March 2015 – Colossians 3:12-14

Daily encouraging word

Daily word for 28 March 2015

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Colossians 3:12-14, which says:

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves1 with compassion, kindness, humility,2 gentleness and patience.3 13 Bear with each other4 and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.5 14 And over all these virtues put on love,6 which binds them all together in perfect unity.7

As a Christian it is very important to love. When you act out of love, then your action will be a lot different then others will, because you have decided to honor God by not letting negative emotions control you. God wants us to be different from the worldly ways, by being compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient. You will see that by having these character trades that it is not only a blessing to your own life, but also to others.

Daily word 27 March 2015 – Mark 16:17-18

Daily encouraging word

Daily word for 27 March 2015

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Mark 16:17-18, which says:

17 And these signs1 will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;2 they will speak in new tongues;3 18 they will pick up snakes4 with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on5 sick people, and they will get well.”

These verses should indeed encourage us to grow more and more in faith. As long as we tend to think according to the rules of this world, then we will stay limited in what we are able to do as Christians. As soon as we put all our trust on God, then we can rest on the fact that God is almighty and nothing is impossible for Him … also for us to do miracles in His name.

I pray to God that everyday we will grow more and more closer to God and also to be able to do these works in His name.

Have a beautiful and very blessed weekend!

God bless!
