Daily devotional for 29 July 2017 – Romans 4:3-5

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Romans 4:3-5 (NIV):

3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

Know that God sees and values your faith in Him!

Daily devotional for 26 July 2017 – Hebrews 13:15-16

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Hebrews 13:15-16 (NIV):

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

The writer of Hebrews (Paul) makes is clear (and rightfully so, to my humble opinion) that believing in God is not a one way street where God is there for us. No, we are here to serve Him and not the other way around. This is also one of the things that is very wrong with the Word of faith movement (aka “prosperity” teachers), because they make us believe that God is there to work for us. If we want something than God will give it. Yes, He has told us to pray and receive, but with the clear addition that we have to ask for something according to His will. And we will only start asking and praying for the things we need as soon as we start becoming more serious in our faith.

Because we are here to serve God, God is entitled to receive sacrifices and praise from us. And God wants it also be that we not only praise Him directly, but also by sacrificing ourselves by doing good unto others.

Love growing in faith!

Daily word for 22 July 2017 – Proverbs 13:14

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Proverbs 13:14 (NIV):

14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.

Be sure to listen to the teachings of wise people in your life. Don’t consider yourself to proud to listen, because God put these people in your life to help you to be blessed in life and keep you from death.

Daily word for 19 July 2017 – 1 Chronicles 17:20-22

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with 1 Chronicles 17:20-22 (NIV):

20 “There is no one like you, LORD, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 21 And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt? 22 You made your people Israel your very own forever, and you, LORD, have become their God.

Know that God has also made you His very own, just like the people of Israel. God is fully determined to be 100% part of your life. But will you allow Him? And also be in your faith for the full 100%?

Daily word for 18 July 2017 – Matthew 18:19-20

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with Matthew 18:19-20 (NIV):

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

God shows the importance to be in fellowship with other Christians and to also be likeminded. Ask God to bring other Christians in your life and to have all of you grow to the same desires to the Holy Spirit, so that you will ask things that are needed!

Daily word for 17 July 2017 – Romans 5:3-4

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with Romans 5:3-4 (NIV):

3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Although we might not like and love the moments of suffering in our life, God allows it for a reason. To built us. Because out of suffering will come perseverance. Perseverance will built our character and from our character our hope will grow. And this will built us, but also our relationship with God.

Daily word for 11 July 2017 – 1 John 5:14-15

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV):

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

These verses are sometimes misused especially within the prosperity teachings from the likes of Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen. However, they keep out a very important part. Yes, if we pray to God for things we desire God will give it to you, but it says very clearly it has to be according to His will. Therefore we need to grow in faith and let us guide us by the Holy Spirit and you will more and more notice that the things you desire will start to change and be in line with Gods way.

Daily word for 10 July 2017 – Proverbs 9:10

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with Proverbs 9:10 (NIV):

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Not until you really fear God you will begin to gain wisdom. Not earthly wisdom, because you never know how correct it is. Also knowledge will come if you start to learn and understand God.
