Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Galatians 6:2-3 (NIV):

2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.

God loves it and wants us to be humble. Don’t ever think more highly of yourself, then is justified. Even everything you have had success with in your life is through Jesus and not your own strength! Also God wants us to be there for each other. As Jesus took our burden at the cross to die for our sins, so He wants us to also be open to the burden of others and help each other out!

Amen!

Daily word for 9 February 2016 – Philippians 3:20-21

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Philippians 3:20-201 (NIV):

20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Although we are living on earth, we should never consider us citizen of this world, but know that we are blessed to be citizens from heaven. For this reasons God transforms our bodies from earthly bodies to be like His glorious body. We cannot transform ourselves, but need the Holy Spirit to grow more and more towards God.

God bless you all!

Bible study

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 14 of the Gospel of Luke. Welcome to this new Bible study serie in which we will undergo a journey through the Gospel of Luke.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Jesus at a Pharasee’s house
  • The parable of the great banquet
  • The cost of being a disciple

Jesus at a Pharasee’s house

Jesus was invited to the house of a Pharisee, where also a sick man was. Jesus was about to heal Him, but noticed the reaction of the Pharisees. Therefore He asked them if they thought that it was alright to heal this man on the Sabbath. This is of course a debate on faith versus religion. Yes, it is very important to keep the Sabbath and take time to rest and spent with God. But this does not mean that on the Sabbath we are not allowed to heal or bless people. God will not find favor in us, if we decide not to help someone, just because we are keeping the Sabbath. In our day and age a good example would be that we are on the road to church and someone needs our help. But we decide to ignore the person, because we want to be in church on time. If we do this than we are not honoring God, because God want us to do good to others every day. Helping that person could be the result of God placing you there on that exact moment.

Next Jesus sees how the invited guests were busy to give themselves the seats of honor. Jesus makes it very clear that God does not like it when we exalt ourselves. Jesus states that if we exalt ourselves than we will be humbled, but if we humble ourselves than God will exalt us. This is something that we need to understand and apply in every aspect of our lives. It is so easy to exalt ourselves at work or at school (or any place for that matter). In this world we are even learned to exalt ourselves and to continuously boast about “our” accomplishments. What you need to know is that every accomplishment in your life is a blessing from God and not your own accomplishment.

The parable of the great banquet

In this parable Jesus compares Heaven with a great banquet. And I know when we will enter Heaven it will be even more beautiful than we can comprehend. In this parable it is very clear that we are all invited to enter Heaven and that God has more than enough place to seat all of us. But know that because God has invited you, that if you do not accept His invitation that you will miss your place at the banquet. Therefore always be prepared (by your way of living) to be ready to enter Heaven, as we do not know when our time has come. I pray that all of us are ready to enter Heaven at any time, and that we are not too busy following or spending time with God because of the excuses we make to put other things before our relationship with God.

The cost of being a disciple

If you want to be a disciple of God, than you first need to be fully ready to accept the possible consequences. As long as we put even our closes ones before God, than God cannot use you as a disciple. You need to be ready to leave anyone behind if you wish to be a disciple, as you do not know how people will react when you choose to be a disciple.

God bless.

Bible study

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 12 of the Gospel of Luke. Welcome to this new Bible study serie in which we will undergo a journey through the Gospel of Luke.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Warnings and encouragements
  • The parable of the rich fool
  • Do not worry
  • Watchfulness
  • Not peace but division
  • Interpreting the timesWarnings and encouragements

In this chapter we see that God not just gave us the Holy Spirit in our lives, but in this chapter Jesus also makes us know how important the Holy Spirit is in our lives. All sins can be forgiven, but not when we blaspheme with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is very important in our lives and God gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us and protect us.

And we need this protection, because God demands from us that we speak openly about Him and our faith in Him. And this could mean that we will be hated and prosecuted by men. But we should not fear, because God the Holy Spirit will guide us and give us the right words.

Furthermore, God wants us to acknowledge Him before others. If we are not afraid to acknowledge His name, then He will also make sure that your name is remembered in Heaven. Also never think (like the Pharisees did) that everything you do will not come out even when done in secret. Make sure that everything in your life gives a good image of you as a Christian!

The parable of the rich fool

First of all I feel and know that God is not against us being rich or successful. On the contrary, God is more than willing to bless us abundantly. God however does not want or allows it when we put something higher then Him. God should always be the most important thing in your life. It could be that God wants you somewhere where you are maybe not rich in money, but than God will make sure that He blesses your life in another way.

In this situation a rich man came to Jesus asking Him to help him and his brother to divide a inheritance. I really see it as an insult to Jesus to come to Him for this as it shows that you value the money higher than God. Jesus teaches us not to focus ourselves on abundance of our possession, because it can really ruin our quality of life. God will bless our life, but if you are more focused on gaining possessions than you will notice that it will ruin the quality of your life, because you will forget to enjoy and are only busy to gain those possession. Are you than really serving God or your possessions?

    Do not worry

God doesn’t want us to worry, yet (especially in our time) we tend to worry about a lot of things. Jesus doesn’t want us to worry, because it will never add a minute to your life and it will even ruin your life, because you will be too busy with worrying instead of enjoying your life.

God knows what we need, but He wants us to be different than the world and not trust on our worldy things, but fully on God. Know that if you trust on God, then you not only not need to worry anymore, but also you can rest on the fact that God will take care of your needs in abundance!

    Watchfulness

God wants us to always be ready and not be lazy. We do not know at what time the enemy will try and attack our lifes or when our (earthly) lives will end, therefore God urges us to always be prepared! So use every moment to grow more and more in your faith towards God, that when He comes that you are fully ready. Never allow the world to make you feel comfortable and lazy, because this world is in no way worth it to not be ready to go to heaven!

    Not peace but division

God did not came to earth to bring peace at every price. No, God came to rescue us and our souls. And this could mean that you will follow Him and this will bring a division between you and family members or friends. Know that in the end your salvation is more important than maintaining family bonds or friendships at any price. No person is worth losing your change to get into heaven!

    Interpreting the times

Stop interpreting the time, but focus more on God. Also God doesn’t want us to be ready to become before Him and make sure that we are ready to be judged. Let all your actions be that of a good Christians. Even if you are in a negative situation with an enemy, make sure that you do your best to solve it in a Christian way, because it will not pleasure God when you are arguing with a fellow human being, because it also reflects badly on all Christians. Let your actions be an honor to God!

God bless you all! Amen!

Bible study

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 11 of the Gospel of Luke. Welcome to this new Bible study serie in which we will undergo a journey through the Gospel of Luke.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • Jesus’ teaching on prayer
  • Jesus and Beelzebub
  • The sign of Jonah
  • The lamp of the body
  • Six woes

Jesus’ teaching on prayer

The disciples are now discussing with Jesus on the subject of prayer. They want to know how to pray.

Jesus first tells them a prayer that is very powerful and which we should all know and speak out:

“Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation”.
Jesus makes a comparison to a friend that will not help you at night. But Jesus let you know that if you have a bold prayer (that you ask God what is on your heart) that He wil be the friend that will help you in that moment of the night. This shows that for God is very important that we always seek His presence through prayer. Jesus tells it the following way:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”.
Jesus and Beelzebub
When Jesus drove out a mute demon, a part of the crowd that Jesus was driving this demon out by the power of Beelzebub and not by the power of God. Jesus really rebukes them very powerfully by stating that a house divided will fall. It is not logical to have Jesus driving out a demon on the authority of another demon. This by itself should be evident enough that Jesus is working by Gods authority. But we will also come across these kind of people that will even look for ways to discredit your work for God. But God will make sure that their lies will never have any ground!
Also God let us know that anyone that obeys the word of God will be blessed.
The sign of Jonah
This part of the chapter is important for 2 reasons.
The first reason is the question raised by some people of Jonah was a real person or that the story was “just” a parable. This chapter shows that Jonah was indeed a real and existing man, which also shows that the story of Jonah and Nineveh actually happened, because we now see that it is Jesus that confirms that Jonah really exists by making this comparison.
Also God makes the comparison with Jonah. Jonah after was sent to Nineveh by God to urge them to repent their sins and come back and close to God. During that timeJonah was in the belly of a bigh fish / whale for three days (and reading the story of Jonah there is reason to believe that he died and was ressurected. This story shows a large comparison with the life of Jesus! Therefore Jesus is now refered to as the one greater than JOnah, because Jesus also came to earth sent by God to rescue a wicked generation. But with Jesus He came for all of us!
The lamp of the body
When we become Christians we should be aware that others will look at us and judge us based on our actions and behavior. Jesus tells us that it is very important that when people look at us that we are giving a good view of Christians. Don’t forget that your evil or wrong action does not only reflect bad on you, but also on Christians in general.
Also be proud to be a Child of God and don’t hide your faith, but let everyone see and feel the light of the faith in God that you have!
Six woes
Jesus, while visiting the home of a Pharisee, warns us about 6 things:
  1. Don’t get stuck on looking good on the outside. Although it is important to give a good impression to others, you have to make sure that your innerself is also good. If you are wicked on the inside, then the outside will not matter!
  2. Don’t think that by giving your tenth to God that this justifies all your behavior or that it is enough in the eyes of God. God wants us also to make sure justice is served and that God is loved by us.
  3. Never let a position in work or social life become so important that it becomes the main focus of your life. Make sure that God is always the center of your life!
  4. Make sure that you don’t become pushovers. God wants us to be strong in our faith, therefore do not allow anyone to let your faith be pushed aside, because they are giving you are hard time over it.
  5. God hates is when we put so much burden on each others that the other can hardly carry that burden. God wants us to help each other out and not place burdens on each other!
  6. Don’think that i will find favor in Gods eyes when you take care of a deceased man of God, but your forefahter is responsible for killing Him.

Furthermore, Jesus again lets us know that we need to always seek knowledge so we can grow in our faith! Never be content with your level of faith, but continiously grow in your faith.

Amen!

Bible study

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we will be talking about Chapter 7 of the Gospel of Luke. Welcome to this new Bible study serie in which we will undergo a journey through the Gospel of Luke.

This chapter tells the following stories:

  • The faith of the Centurion
  • Jesus raises a widow’s son
  • Jesus and John the Baptist
  • Jesus anointed by a sinful woman

The faith of the Centurion

This story shows how important it is for us to have a very good faith. A believe that God exist and will do anything He has promised. God healed the servant of the centurion after He saw how much faith this man had. God wants us to have the same kind of faith. Is an easy and very clear faith: God does what He promises!

Jesus raises a widow’s son

This part of the chapter shows how Almighty God is and that He is even more powerful than death. Jesus was able to raise a dead boy from the death, because for God nothing is impossible.

Jesus and John the Baptist

People were comparing Jesus and John the Baptist. And Jesus used this to warn people to stop comparing people with each other. Jesus and John the Baptist both had their ministry and worked as God had asked them. We should not be looking if we are better than others, but feel blessed that others are also working to honor and worship God!

Jesus anointed by a sinful woman

In the house of Simon, Jesus and His disciples stay for a while. At a certain moment a woman comes in and anoints Jesus with her expensive parfum. The disciples murmur about that an expensive parfum was waisted. And Jesus was not pleased with this and let them know that she did something Simon should have done for Jesus in His house. This woman was a sinner, but because of her desire to anoint Jesus with an expensive parfum to honor Him, this brought her to be forgive for all her sins. Never think that your sins are to much, because God wants you to be with Him!

Amen!
