Daily devotional for 12 August 2017 – Daniel 9:18

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to meditate with you on Daniel 9:18 (NIV):

18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

Reading this verse immediately makes me a lot more humble, because it shows although we are able and should have a very close relationship with God, this verse makes is also very clear that we do not make requests (in prayer) to Him, because we are anywhere near rightheous. No, we can do this, because of His great mercy. God deserves our praise and worship. Also when you make a request to God, do it so very humble, because we are not in His league. God is so fantastic to have such a great mercy for us!
