Daily devotional for 3 August 2017 – Proverbs 27:17
Dear brothers and sisters,
In today’s devotional I want to meditate with you on the words from Proverbs 27:17 (NIV):
17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
I love the book of Proverbs so very much, because I truly God gave it to us to educate us to become the sort of Christians He wants us to be. This short verse makes it very clear that as Christians we cannot be just on ourselves. No, He demands that we come together. These verses that we need each other to become more wise, to help each other, to educate each other. How can you grow in your faith if you have no other Christians in your life that continiously talk with you about you, your faith and God? It could be that you are doing or understanding things incorrectly and than it is important that you have other Christians that talk and discuss (and even challenge) with you so you can be sharpened as a Christian. Don’t see the words of another as a critique, but as a way to grow more in your faith.
I pray that God let our hearts be touched and be opened to listen to others (and of course first and foremost to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit) so we can sharpen each other and all grow more and more in faith! Amen!
