Daily word for 18 June 2017 – Hebrews 13:8-9

Daily word for 18 June 2017 – Hebrews 13:8-9

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I want to encourage you with the words from Hebrews 13:8-9 (NIV):

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so.

I believe that these 2 verses are as true now as back then. Today we see so many different teachings of which we see continuous change in their teachings. If we would put them besides the Bible, then we clearly will see that they are not in accordance with the word of God and we need to reject them. A very good example is the word of faith movement with their prosperity teaching. It may sound very good, because it teaches us that we can say to God that he needs us to be prosperous. However, nowhere in the Bible it is said that we can order God around telling Him what to do. This is heresy in its most evil form. If a teaching is not in line with the Bible: reject it!
